Metadata management
The metadata you select for inclusion within your Web page continues
to be managed by Humbul as part of the process by which we manage
metadata within our database. The management of metadata may result
in changes to the records you select as part of My Humbul Include.
This page is intended to document what we do and how it might affect
you.
Link checking
On average all URLs within Humbul's catalogue are checked once
a month. Links which are definitely broken are no longer made available
for searching and browsing.
If you have a record within your collection or sets which is subsequently
found to contain a broken link the record will be removed from the
file used to generate the records on your web page. That is, records
containing broken links will no longer appear on your Web site.
However, the records will not be removed from your collection of
records, accessible via My Records. Where a record contains a broken
link this will be clearly flagged within your collection of records
and also on your My Humbul Records page.

Example of record having been removed from public display
Many broken links occur because the site has moved. We spend some
time for every broken link trying to track down any new location
the site might have (including emailing the site contact if necessary).
Should we fix a broken link with a new URL then this will automatically
be updated in your collection. Furthermore, records with fixed
URLs will reappear on your Web site, within any sets in which
that record appeared.
Records withdrawn from public view
Occasionally, it is necessary to withdraw a record from public
view. This may be because the URL no longer works (see above) or
it may be because the description or some other metadata field requires
revising. Where a record is no longer available in the public database
then it will no longer be available within My Humbul Include files
(i.e. will no longer appear on your Web page). Where this occurs
the record will remain in your sets and collection but be clearly
flagged as no longer available. Should the record become public
again then your My Humbul Include files will be updated and the
record will reappear on your Web page.
Changes to metadata fields
A daily script runs at Humbul which checks for any updates to the
metadata within Humbul records (e.g. description, title, responsibility).
Any updates will automatically be applied to your selected Humbul
records and updates will appear on your Web site where you have
selected the updated field for display.
